AWSN’s Treasurer is responsible for monitoring and executing AWSN’s financial operations with the assistance of a Co-Treasurer. The commitment and integrity of the Treasurer are crucial to the legal standing and sustainability of AWSN. AWSN participates in AGLC casinos and familiarity with AGLC-approved use of proceeds and reporting is an asset.
Responsibilities, Tasks, Activities:
– Exercise general supervision and control over the financial operations of AWSN, including those of AWSN Hosted Programs
– Ensure that government standards are upheld with regard to CRA reporting and human resource standards
– Prepare an annual budget of AWSN expenses and revenues
– Attend monthly meetings, typically held in the evening on the third Wednesday of the month via Zoom
– Be a signing officer of AWSN
– Liaise with accountants and legal representatives as required.
Responsibilities to the Board and Executive team:
– Ensure that all funds are disbursed as approved by the Board
– Present a financial report at all meetings of the board and at the Annual General Meeting; ensure that the financial updates are provided in a manner that can be quickly understood by the teams to make informed decisions on items
– Recommend financial policy to the Board and the Executive.
AGLC:
– Disburse AGLC funds according to the approved use of proceeds
– Prepare and submit AGLC reporting.
Beneficial Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
– Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards designation,
– Knowledge of QuickBooks for non-profits,
– Working knowledge of financial requirements of non-profits,
– Knowledge of AGLC requirements,
– Knowledge of human resources standards.
