Summary
Little Footprints, Big Steps International Development Organization (LFBS) is seeking up to three new Board Members. The LFBS Board of Directors governs, advises, oversees policy and direction, assists with the leadership and general promotion of LFBS.
If you are passionate about making a difference in the community and looking to contribute your skills, we invite you to apply for the position of Board Member. As a Board Member, you will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of our organization.
We are seeking qualified individuals, who live in Canada, with leadership experience and who would like to serve on our volunteer Board of Directors. At this time, preference will be given to individuals with finance experience, leadership experience, or experience with a similar non-profit . This will be a 3-year term, renewable upon mutual agreement with a minimum commitment of 4 hours per month.
The Organization
Little Footprints, Big Steps International Development Organization (LFBS) is a non-profit organization that works to protect vulnerable children in Haiti by reuniting families and empowering them with resources and opportunities to build a self-sufficient future. By reinforcing their family unit, we strive to foster the health, self-worth and social reintegration of children who have been mistreated. We respect and value Haitian autonomy by working with local staff, authorities, and partners.

LFBS Board of Directors
The general responsibilities of a LFBS board member include:
- Has a Passion for the Vision, Mission, and Values of LFBS
- Makes a Strong Commitment of Time, Energy and Expertise on the Board and on Board Committee(s)
- Participates in the Development and Implementation of the Strategic Plan
- Ensures Individual and Board Accountability for Quality and Results
- Contributes to the Evolution of the Board and Determination of the Governance Model, Policies and Procedures
- Participates in the Appointment of the Chair and Other Officers and in the Review of Their Performance
- Participates in the Recruitment and the Performance Review of the ED
- Monitors and Manages Organizational Resources and Risk
- Helps Recruit and Onboard New Directors
- Spreads the Word About the Organization and Builds Trusting Relationships
- Maintains Integrity, Discretion, and Independence
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience required include the following:
- has knowledge and skill in one of the following areas: policy, governance, non-profit law, advocacy, fundraising, finance, human resources, public relations, marketing/communications, operations/administration, child protection, health or social services, international development, infrastructure management, or other areas which the Board deems necessary;
- leadership experience or previous board involvement preferred;
- appropriate experience, designation(s), or educational requirements to meet the needs of the Board or the Director’s role.
The Board meets virtually on the last Monday of the month. Committees typically meet monthly.
