Board Member
The Safety Codes Council (the Council) is a regulatory organization established under the Safety Codes Act (Act) of the Province of Alberta. The Council is responsible for reviewing, formulating, and managing significant components of the administration of Alberta’s safety codes system.
In recent years, Safety Codes Council has made significant improvements to adapt to an evolving industry and to modernize the organization, allowing it to improve service levels and to materially impact the reduction of ‘red tape’ for those impacted by Alberta’s safety codes system. With a relatively new CEO and a Board that is very much focused on good governance and oversight, the new Director will be joining a well-performing and future-focused organization.
Alberta’s public safety codes system depends on a strong partnership between Alberta Municipal Affairs and the Safety Codes Council. The primary goal of the partnership is to administer the safety codes system to ensure it is effective, accountable, comprehensive, and sustainable, and maintains public confidence in the system.
