Calgary Economic Development
Calgary Economic Development is seeking Directors to be members of its volunteer Board of Directors. As a conduit, connector and catalyst for Calgary’s economic growth and diversification, Calgary Economic Development is a non-profit organization funded by government, industry, and community partnerships that collaborates to advance opportunities in achieving economic success, embracing shared prosperity and building a strong community for Calgary. The Board of Directors is primarily focused on strategic planning, risk management, financial oversight and board policy development.

Like the city you want to serve, you are visionary, creative, and entrepreneurial. You are passionate about Calgary and want to apply your original thinking and innovative ideas to help grow its economy.
As a Director, you will be a skilled communicator and relationship builder with subject matter expertise and can work effectively with businesses, Team Calgary partners, strategic community and public sector partners, government, and other key stakeholders.
We are seeking Directors who bring a diverse set of experiences that could include: agribusiness, life science, technology, fintech, aerospace, clean tech, energy and ESG, or other related experience that aligns with Calgary Economic Development focus areas.
It is recognized as a fundamental principle of Calgary Economic Development that all persons are equal and that diversity and inclusion are valued and supported on the Board. Having a Board composed of people with diverse skills, experience, backgrounds, and perspectives can contribute to:
- a robust understanding of opportunities, issues and risks;
- inclusion of different concepts, ideas and relationships;
- enhanced decision-making and dialogue;
- heightened capacity for oversight of the organization and its governance;
- sustainability of the organization.
