Incorporated in 1939, Alberta Lung (“ALA”) mission is “saving lungs to save lives” we lead in respiratory health, connecting, advocating and engaging community members to support better lung health for all. We raise money for research, prevention, and support of those 1 in 5 Canadians suffering from some form of lung disease and their families.
ALA is a non-profit and volunteer-based health charity, depending on donations from the public to support lung health research, education, prevention, and advocacy. ALA is overseen by a volunteer policy governance board. The Board of Directors are comprised of members from across Alberta, each with a unique skill set, but with a common vision for a healthier community.
We are seeking for several positions currently. As an unpaid member of our volunteer Board of Directors, the successful applicant(s) could have experience in financial accounting, health, funds development, human resources, legal, marketing and communications, information technology and/or other background or experience beneficial to the Association. As a member of our Governance Board, you will meet remotely and potentially, face to face, 4 times per year and provide insight and guidance on many aspects of the Association. Including but not limited to financial and fundraising guidance, ensuring adherence to generally held policies and practices, establishing strategic plans and direction, and ensuring the Associations practises continue to drive our Mission and Vision – Healthy Lungs for Everyone and meet the needs of our donors, stakeholders, auditors, and partners of the Association.
