Join us for a special holiday event, celebrating five years of empowering women in Alberta and across Canada on November 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (MT) at the Petroleum Club in Calgary.

Board Ready Women is 5 years old and we want to celebrate with you!

Join us for a special holiday event, celebrating five years of empowering women in Alberta and across Canada on November 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (MT) at the Calgary Petroleum Club. We are hosting this event in person and virtually. In-person registration starts at 4:30 pm, with the program starting at 5:00 pm, followed by cocktails and networking (virtual party rooms will also be available).

We’ve achieved remarkable success in our mission to increase women’s representation on Boards in Alberta and we look forward to share the details with you! As we grow and expand, we will be offering our in-person events across Canada to build on our momentum.

As a special guest for this occasion, we are thrilled to introduce our keynote speaker, Barbara Munroe, who will talk about her remarkable Board journey, her experience of being a Board Chair and the value of education for directors.

Current Board Appointments

Crescent Point Energy Corp.

Barb was elected to the Crescent Point Energy Corp. board of directors in May 2016 and since October 2019 has served as Board Chair.  Prior to this appointment, she served on Crescent Point’s Human Resources & Compensation Committee and chaired the Nominating & Corporate Governance Committee. 

ENMAX Corporation

Barb was elected to the ENMAX Corporation board of directors in June 2021.  In December 2022, she was appointed Chair of the Governance Committee and also serves as a member of the HRC Committee.

Alberta Cancer Foundation

Barb was appointed as a Trustee of the Alberta Cancer Foundation in June 2021 where she serves as Vice Chair and member of the Impact and Engagement Committee. She is also a member of the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre Campaign Cabinet.

 

Prior Professional Experience

Barb most recently retired from her position as Executive Vice-President, Corporate Services & General Counsel at WestJet Airlines in 2019.  Prior to that she had a corporate commercial practice at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP and also held executive positions as General Counsel with SMART Technologies and Assistant General Counsel, Upstream, with Imperial Oil.  Barb holds the ICD.D designation.

Barb is a graduate of the University of Calgary where she received both her bachelor of commerce (finance) and bachelor of laws degrees.

Barb lives in Calgary with her husband and two adult children. She can often be found enjoying the great outdoors running, cycling, skiing and hiking. Spending time with her family, especially in Windermere, is very important to her, and she also looks for every chance to enjoy fine art and travel.
