My principal occupation is a corporate director presently serving on the boards of two public companies – CN Railway and PrairieSky Royalty and two privately held energy companies – Spur Petroleum Ltd. and North40 Resources Ltd.

From 2000-2014, I was the CFO/founder/director of a team that built four successful private oil and natural gas entities including Profico Energy (2000-2006), Range Royalty Partnership (2006-2014), Spur Resources (2006 – 2017) and HomeQuarter Resources (2010-2013).  My early career included five years at Arthur Andersen (1983-1987) and eight years at Renaissance Energy Ltd. (1987-1995).  From 1995-1999, I was a partner in an entrepreneurial startup, Pipestone Travel Outfitters. Over my 30+ year career in the energy sector, I have developed expertise in financial reporting, treasury, corporate finance and risk management. My experience also includes management and oversight of strategy, governance,  mergers and acquisitions, human resources and compensation, capital allocation and budgeting. The personal attributes that have served me well include honesty, empathy, entrepreneurial thinking combined with analytical skills and a good sense of humor.

On a personal note, I have been married to David Farran since 1991.  We have two children: Leigh (28) is a family doctor working in the Fraser Health District in B.C. and Tom (25) is a private equity associate in Calgary.  David grew up in Calgary and is the founder of Eau Claire Distillery in Turner Valley.
